Sam Lee takes DNA test to prove innocence

The Taiwanese singer held a press conference yesterday to address his recent bad rumours

Taiwanese singer Sam Lee made headlines after creating a scene in public with an unknown woman, Miss Cai last month. The latter was later revealed to be the mother of Sam's rumoured son.

Together with his lawyer, the 34-year-old celebrity attended a press conference yesterday morning to verify the news. Sam, who had recently taken a DNA test to prove his innocence, announced that he was being framed and blackmailed by Miss Cai.

He was first told that his son was gravely ill and had passed away after doctors failed to revive him. A devastated Sam met up with Miss Cai for the details but was in turn blackmailed for TW$12 million (about S$500,000). It turned out that Miss Cai had lied about their son's death and had wanted to use the opportunity to ask for more alimony from Sam.

Suspicious of her claims, Sam made a clarification with the hospital and realised that it was all a bluff. As such, he decided to take a paternity test and was later proven that he was not the father of the child, ending the extortion.

Wrapping up the press conference, the singer professed that he will be taking appropriate legal actions towards Miss Cai.

On the other hand, Miss Cai has requested through her lawyer for a second paternity test and had revealed photos of the hospitalised child to deflect accusations that she was lying.

She then went on to question the singer, 'Why did you accompany me for a prenatal check-up if the child isn't yours?'
